Unlocking the Mysteries of Korean

I still haven’t found the key. It’s only been four weeks, but damn, beginning a language with a totally different writing system, pronunciation and grammar is a mighty challenge.

Also, been poking around with the language input functions on the computer, and can only come up with a mishmash of characters like this: ㅇㄹㅅ – not exactly a word, but it’s something!

Why do I insist on torturing myself with this undertaking?

1. Tofu stew is the best incarnation of this soy product
2. I’d like to read all the signs in my neighborhood
3. My Korean friends are endearing and warm
4. There’s Korean heritage in my extended family
5. Lee Byung-Hun

Only four weeks, right? As one of my favorite writers said, I must exercise patience…or should I?
“Patience is a minor form of despair, disguised as a virtue,”
Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914)

Today's obsession: Coordinating my outfit around one of my 10 (!) pairs of glasses. That's as close to accessorizing as I get.

#5 looks like a reasonable motivator. 잘생긴
Are you learning immersion-style with only Korean in class? If I was wearing a hat, I'd take it off to you and your new language endeavor. Rock on sister!

Anyway learning a new language is hard and I just admire you for doing this. I'm sure it is interesting, but I always like your positive energy for new things.
