All good things come to an end

Received news earlier today that next semester I will not continue teaching the newspaper writing class that I have labored over these past six weeks.

Apparently, the dean of our program has hand-picked someone else. I’ll stop at that in case this blog falls into the wrong hands, but let’s just say I’m very disappointed and steamed, especially since I specifically chased after and volunteered to teach this class.

When I heard that this course existed, in a rare act of assertiveness on my part, I hastily updated my resume and portfolio and marched into the office of my boss, declaring that I was right for the job. Oh well, at least I have another notch in my teaching belt. Gotta move on.

Today’s obsession: Being denied the chance to continue combining two of my passions: teaching and journalism. I'm trying to have the "sour grapes" attitude, but I think the Rolling Stones put it best, "You can't always get what you want."
