Well, seeing that Gilroy is the garlic capital of California and home to the Garlic Festival, I'd guess there. BUT, you also reference sea lions which puts your stay in either Santa Cruz or Monterey. Since it's YOU we're talking about, you could go either way since both places are cool and relaxing. But I'll put my money on the Santa Cruz side for your stay only cuz it's my hood and I think it's cooler than Monterey.
