懐かしい

I recently started tutoring two Japanese students who arrived here in June as part of a small gig I landed with NCN. Upon meeting them, I asked them what they thought of America, and California, so far.

"It’s too hot,” they both promptly replied.
To this I said, “まだまだだよ,” or “Just you wait!”

We’ve had a relatively mild summer…thank goodness. You never know what the wacky weather patterns hold in store, though.

Thinking about summer, I got quite懐かしい, or sentimental, for Japan.

Despite Nihon’s sweltering and humid heat, there are a few things I miss about that season there. For those who are Japanese reading impaired (I usually am, actually!), just click on each set of characters for a link to explanations and depictions of what I miss.

Today's obsession: Nursing my sore muscles after a particularly rigorous workout at the gym. 痛い!
