Totally Addicted

The Wii is a wonderful thing. Especially the game Animal Crossing. I spent months watching Mark play it, and recently I finally decided to see what made it so engaging.

The premise is kind of boring: you walk around a little town (mine's Yokohama), talk to other animals, go fishing, shop for various room items, and take care of the grounds. Not so exciting, right?

That's until you finally play it. The host of characters are extremely cute, all with distinct personalities. That's Tangy up there on the right, and she's my favorite because I imagine that her name is "Mikan" in the Japanese version of the game. Although she's a little vain for my tastes, I still think her design is inventive.

The best part of Animal Crossing is being able to coin new phrases and greetings for all the other characters. This turns into a total juvenile reversion with some of my characters saying "I farted!" or "Got a smoke?" Pretending to be a 5-year-old couldn't be any more fun!

Oh my god! Okasan plays that, too! She's got the book and everything. She's always saying, "oh, gotta fish for "nani-nani" tonight or sell "nani-nani" by 9:00pm. It's hilarious. And being the typical mom that she is, she does all of Junko's fishing because Junko can't stand the sight of fish...real or not. Happy playing!

Oh! Tell your okaasan that we can meet up online! I'd love to go to her town...I'm wondering if cross English/Japanese works at all. 遊ぶたい!

I love Animal Crossing, too! I have it for the DS and the Wii now, and it's just so addictive.
