But, their antics have been distracting other students and undermining my classroom authority. I finally took the bull by the horns and confronted this group after class earlier this week.
I've never seen a group so disinterested in improving their English skills. Obviously, the hefty tuition my program charges does not come out of their pockets, or else they might be more motivated.
After my talk, which compared them to "babies," it seemed that I got through. They were quite adult-like the next day in class, and I hope this behavior continues.
I'm not one to initiate confrontations like this, so I like to think of my actions as a small victory toward learning how to assert myself and right perceived wrongs. My self-esteem meter is slowly climbing.
SSS: Sigh. Guess I set my expectations too high regarding this exercise stuff. Will be hitting the gym tomorrow. Today, the only thing I'm hitting are books.
