Last Friday, after getting my car back from the shop (only $200 this time...that's cheap), I treated myself to a gut-bomb, chili-filled meal at my local Tommy's. The closest location to my home isn't that close, so I cranked up the tunes on my local jazz station and was treated to 45 minutes of aural bliss as I happened upon the Latin Jazz show that is broadcast every weekday from 5-7 p.m.
All my troubles melted away as I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel and ordered my feet to stop grooving so as not to cause a traffic accident. First up on my Amazon order to start exploring this genre is Caribbean Jazz Project. I'm looking forward to that parcel in the mail later this week.
If any of my readers (I know you are a small but mighty population) have some tips regarding this type of music, please pass along your knowledge. I'd like to seriously explore other artists and figure out just what is it that drives me into a happy frenzy when I hear this frenetic combo of steel drums, horns and marimba.

My renewed respect for him was after my discovery earlier this week of his cameo a couple of years back with The Lonely Island. Just Google The Lonely Island + Justin Timberlake, and you'll find one of the funniest, and most offensive parodies that I've seen to date. Warning, it is explicit and may turn off those of you with a less quirky sense of humor.
Anyway, my love affair with JT hearkens back to his *NSYNC days when I thought he was the cutest little guy with that bleached 'fro. Also, I have memories of dancing around my tiny Yokohama apartment to the Justified album using my hairbrush as a microphone. How's that for childlike regression?

No harm in lov'n the JT. As far as I'm concerned he's a talented fella with a good head on his shoulders and the music/entertainment industry could use a few more like him.
As for the music outreach, I'd like to recommend Chucho Valdez. He's a Cuban jazz pianist who has sausage-sized fingers that move like Speedy Gonzales. Give him a listen.
