A Familiar Face

Last night, I popped in to Target for some retail therapy to reward myself after a particularly challenging week so far. Entering the establishment, I was immediately greeted with huge placards emblazoned with the mascot for all things Halloween at the store...Domo-kun!

I'm not sure how the megastore Target discovered this character, but I was immediately charmed and wanted to see what kind of goods they had featuring my favorite NHK representative. I hurried to the Halloween section, and found the Domo pickings sparse. I'll have to try a different store.

I'm curious if my little television-watching friend will actually catch on in America. Every so often, I see kids at school with various Domo-themed items, and it always makes me feel sentimental for Japan. Seeing his face in one of the biggest chain stores throughout this nation just proves that once again, Japan has some of the coolest ideas for creating product and brand name synergy. どーもくんがんばれ!

SSS: Have officially given up on my original "Super September Statistics" goal of exercising every day. Heck, I haven't even exercised "regularly" lately. There's always October, right?
